My Sunday Night Beauty Routine

I am sharing my Sunday night routine and the “extra” beauty things I do to feel rejuvenated and ready for the new week ahead. I don’t know about you, but after a long work week and a busy weekend schedule, I look forward to some relaxed and uninterrupted “me” time.

I do this routine when the kids are in bed and when no one will be asking me a gazillion and one questions. You can certainly make this more like an at-home spa experience with candles, essential oils and music if you have the time. And if you have the time, I am a bit jealous 😊. Let’s get into the routine, shall we?

1. Skin: Dermaplaning
You might ask, what is dermaplaning? Dermaplaning is a fancy word for shaving your face! I used to gasp when I heard of people doing this because I assumed they are using those harsh men razors. But dermaplaning is done using a special scalpel to gently “shave” the skin’s surface, removing the top-most layer of dead skin along with peach fuzz.

I added this to my routine recently and can’t get over how smooth and new my skin looks each time I do this! The scalpel I use is this one from a brand called Tinkle. There are fake Tinkle razors so be careful! Make sure the one you are purchasing has the Dorco label on it.

I first remove all my makeup, wash and pat dry my face. Then, I shave my face in the direction of my hair (never against it). Word of caution – when you get around your eyebrows, be extra careful so you don’t accidentally shave your eyebrows off!

Give this a try! You will be amazed at how much gunk you exfoliate off your face using this technique.

2. Skin: Apply Mask
Right after I shave my face, I apply a face mask. The one I am using right now was a gift from my mom from her recent trip to Israel and it is called the Revival Oasis Magnetic Facial Mask – with dead sea minerals and peptides. I leave it on for 10 minutes and then I remove the mask with the magnetic strip it came with. Unfortunately, I could not find this exact same mask for you, but there are so many magnetic face masks. I would also check out the Revival brand. They have great line of products all made from dead sea minerals and desert plant oils!

3. Hair: Apply Mask
The Olaplex Hair Perfector No.3 is getting all the rave right now and you might have caught me talking about trying it on my Instastories.

I am a big skeptic of anything working from the first try but you guys, from the first try I was sold! Olaplex delivers! From the first time I used this, I noticed a huge difference in the texture and softness of my hair! We have had some humid days lately and I noticed my hair was not frizzing as much! Olaplex must have saturated my hair with some much needed moisture.

You need to apply it to damp towel-dried (dirty) hair so I hop in the shower but I do not wash my hair with shampoo or conditioner. Once I towel dry my hair, I apply a good amount to my roots and throughout till my ends. Here is where I deviate from the directions. The bottle says to leave on for a minimum of 10 minutes. Well, I leave it in overnight and sometimes well through the next day even. When I rinse it off, I shampoo and condition as usual.

Your hair may need less time than mine but I know by now, nothing works in my hair within minutes. Depending on your hair type, you might want to keep that in mind for better results.

4. Body: Dry Brush and Exfoliate
A friend of mine turned me on to dry brushing especially to target cellulite. Yes, I have cellulite. Different people use different methods but I am using this brush to exfoliate and combat those cellulite areas at the same time. This technique leaves your body glistening and smooth! I have yet to notice a difference in the cellulite department though but I will keep you posted since I am still new to this. Plus, I only do this once a week, but you really should do this daily for quicker results if you have cellulite. If you don’t, again I am jealous!

5. Body: Apply Self-tanner
To be completely honest, I self-tanned for the first time ever only two Sundays ago 😊 My initial reaction of the brand I used was not great since I did not notice a difference. But when I contacted the brand, they recommended I leave the self-tanner on longer next time. I have yet to put this to the test, but once I give it a second chance and if I like it, I will definitely share more with you guys.

UPDATE: I recently added the Michael Todd Soniclear Petite cleansing brush to my daily skin care routine and absolutely love the results! This wand really gets all the dirt and makeup build-up off your face for a deep clean. My face feels considerably smoother and softer and my pores are much less noticeable! I highly recommend adding this cleansing brush to your skin care routine. You will notice a difference instantly!

So that’s my Sunday beauty routine. How about you? Leave me a comment below with your weekly beauty routine! I am always interested to know what others are doing.
